Hello! I'm Jenelle...
I'm the 'Her', as well as the 'Art' and the 'Soul', in Her Art is Soul. It was a name that came to me in a moment of clear inspiration, and it's so fitting as this business expresses every single part of me as a woman, as an artist, and also the dreaming of my soul.
Far beyond that first inspiration though, Her Art is Soul was ultimately birthed through an open-hearted 'YES', and by continuing to say 'YES' as each step of the path unfolded ... It was very much the essence of the creative journey into the unknown, which is one of the things I love about being a creative - continually making discoveries that I never knew were possible.

Her Art is Soul is the coming together of all of my passions in my professional life as a creative and an educator, which has spanned many different realms... from working as a designer and visual artist to delivering art and design education for children and adults, as well as diving into studies in art therapy and creativity coaching which have been the foundation for the workshops that I run.
Throughout all of my years on the creative path, I have a perpetual desire to keep growing and expanding. At the same time, I also love to pass on my knowledge, which evolved into the form of offering coaching for female creatives ... to ultimately help them learn from my experiences and accelerate their process for creating their own businesses.

Ever since my art college days I've been madly in love with life drawing, especially the female form. The curves and light and shade have so much expression it's an endless journey of possibilities for representation.
I also found that whenever I received portrait commissions, they were from women, so it was a natural direction for my subject matter to focus purely on celebrating the female form in my artwork for Her Art is Soul.
I'm wildly passionate about using mixed media in my work - from mixing watercolour backgrounds with oil pastels to expressive graphite linework. I can get lost for hours in the joy of experimentation with materials ...
This is my greatest delight in art-making. The getting lost in the creation... the loss of seperate self and complete union with creative energy. As the art begins to come to life, I intuitively feel it begin to have a conversation with me about how it desires to be formed. I can feel it saying "now over here.... add light to me here... bring me colour here". That, to me, is the captivation of art-making ... to experience myself as both the creator and that which is being created, in the same moment, as the art comes alive under my hand.

I have always been a big picture kind of gal, and the further along this path that I have come with Her Art is Soul, the more I've realised that the bigger picture is that the 'Her' in Her Art is Soul isn't just me. It's a collective 'Her'.
This business has been created for you as much as it has for me. It's for all women who love art, to elevate the work of other female creatives along with my own, sharing knowledge and helping them establish their own creative practices; to help them live their passions not just in their dreams, but in reality.
